My hero, well one of my heroes is the great Patti Smith.
I stumbled upon her about 5 years ago while reading her book Just Kids, which led to M Train then Year of the Monkey, Devotion and my quest anything she has written and published or has been written about her. She has been my gateway to poets like Rimbaud andVerlaine, Authors like Murukami and Bolano and encouraged me to better appreciate the works of Frida Kahlo and Jimi Hendrix. Her writing and her thoughts have made me feel better time and time again. A sort of salve for the soul during covid and when life gets down. She reminds me to make everything I do sacred, whether in creation or just general life. She points her finger to the divine as a guiding light for artists like me and I follow willingly. Patti reminds me to be an artist first, the work is the most important of all. Not follows, not streams, not status updates. I am a worker, I create. Fame and fortune is not the meat of the equation. The work has to be good and true, merciful and a transmission from the gods when possible. Make it sacred.
Thank you Patti, happy 76th Birfday.
I have two records coming out this year and each contain a version of St. Patricia, a tribute to my mentor. Here is one of them for you to enjoy. Please comment and let me know you’re here and please consider a paid subscription to help keep it all happening.

Love the song and your tribute. Been a fan of hers since the 70s, and finally got to see her this summer, when we’re both seniors. Life is weird, and I’m so glad we have artists like her and like you, to help us through. Thanks.
Absolutely love the lilt of the melody, and the love that pours through the words! A very PETTYish aura to the vibe and groove of the song... First time hearing it, I thought I knew it... and that's a great thing! Opiatic... it begs to be listened to again and again!!! ADDICTIVE! It demands you stand up and pay attention, so I am!!! <3
