Bright moon through the window pane of your soul.
We are Living in a time of empire and delusion
With one finger in the trigger
And one on the channel changer.
Well past the fork in the road
One must conjur up a proverbial
Doubling back before we lose all dignity
As a species.
As a citizen of one’s own community, there is hope still I think.
You just have to shut off the news and divest from the constant bell ringing of (un)social media.
I did this just yesterday and boy, the sun did shine a little brighter through my eyelids.
When my head hit pillow, I did not sleep with the weight of the world, heavy on my shoulders like so many nights before.
I understand my privilege in being able to sleep sound, but I too have suffered my share of loss and tragedy in my own home and in our community.
But we cannot carry these burdens all the time. In order to honour the precious gift of living, we have to see the truth of the world we are in. It is complicated, tragic and mostly beautiful.
The brightest moon just woke me up, well before I’d like, and truthfully sooner than my body needs, but what a thing to see!
And what a thing to comprehend.
Shut off the relentless noise of empire today if you can, and look for the bright moon through the window pane of your soul.
And live as well as possible.
And now coffee.
